New Single Hits It Out Of The Park. Quietly.


Sitting here typing in my super cute new Yo La Tengo baseball T-Shirt from last night's show at Keyspan Park in Coney Island. (Are you getting all these baseball metaphors?)

Though the main event last night was all about Wilco, YLT put on a heck of an opening show. They played a few tracks from their forthcoming album Popular Songs, due out in September 2009 with this being the standout. It releases today as a single.

I love it when this band manages to blend an almost comatose vocal with a completely swinging vibe. It's nearly impossible to describe and even harder to resist.  Like valium wearing off. Listen for the killer organ solo and a funky Booker T style thinggoingon in the second half.
